job interview

Had a job interview today! At a different hospital doing the same thing! The interview went really well. Much better than expected. I won't hear anything for 1-2 weeks because of the holidays. Wish me luck:)

time not well spent

So I had ample time today to do some scrapbooking which I desperately need to do. And...do you think I took advantage of the time? I did, not but for scrapbooking. I chose to relax. Friday and Saturday we ran the moving sale again. Friday was so slow and Saturday was crappy weather. Oh well. We'll be running it next weekend out at my parents! I am all alone to run the surgery registrations and pre-registrations as well as helping out with the cancer center pre-registrations all this week! I will be so glad to get our new guy trained and perhaps take a few days off from work before the move! Although, I probably will work every day and just let them send me a check for my accumulated PTO! :)
I have found myself addicted to a few new things lately...
*Researching homeschool products and curriculum (it fascinates me the differences between home-schooled children and children taught in public schools)
*Getting inspiration for scrapbooking and card-making (and not turning that inspiration into production).
*Cleaning
*Researching baby products and baby books...no, I'm not pregnant.
*Finding time to spend with real, true friends!

Saturday was spent walking around downtown for Danish Festival. Nothing that I couldn't live without.
Sunday (today) we walked around Veteran's Park. This time we found a couple of things! A small travel water bowl for Vega (hopefully we can put it to good use on the trip down to Florida) and some books of patterned paper for scrapbooking (only $1.00 a piece...some had 30-some sheets and some had 50-some sheets!!). We also had gyros. They were out of original (lamb) so I had chicken. Definitely not as good as the original.

I need to get down to scrapbooking and card-making this week. I have lots of events (anniversaries, birthdays, etc) to make cards for and I need to get caught up on my scrapbook...at least make a dent in my wedding pictures:) It is so relaxing to me, I just don't know why I don't make it more of a priority each day. So there's my goal for this week...to fit that in among work and playing disc golf on Monday, work and learning with my sister-in-law Tuesday, work and church on Wednesday, work and volunteering and moving sale on Thursday, work and moving sale and Pure Romance party on Friday, chilling on Saturday (I hope...unless we run the sale then too...we'll see). Busy week!

Baby shower 'Newlywed' game

Today was awesome.
Got right up with my alarm this morning. Had breakfast and played a little FarmVille on Facebook.
Had a baby shower for my good friend early afternoon. I was so glad to have been able to go! Love that girl! That's the 2nd of 3 baby showers I'll have before I move. We played a really cool game there that I had never played before. It was the Newlywed game but about the pregnancy! They called the dad and got his answers before the shower then had her write the correct answers down to compare and see how many he got right! We had to guess how many. It was awesome!

Outliving your pacemaker, weekend events

What a cool thing...I had the privelege of checking in a woman that was 102 years old. She outlived her pacemaker! Anywho...on to this past weekend's events.
Thursday was my kick-start to my weekend! It was my birthday! The big 25! I got out of work early (10:30 instead of 2:00...wahoo!). Spent the day relaxing
Friday and Saturday I made some cards, went to some yard sales, ordered my new Cricut cartridges (happy to me) and just hung out.
Sunday I went to church then a bonfire out by the lake.
Monday was a blast! I went to Burley Park with two of my coworkers. They had warned me that it was very large and silly me left my cell phone at home. So we set out and made plans to meet at the hot dog stand at the end of the rows before going on. We started out down the first aisle and I stepped under a tent for a second to check out something that caught my eye. I decided they wanted too much money for it so I left (later to return and offer less and get it). They were only 2 booths down from me when I stepped in and they were nowhere to be seen when I stepped out. So I got to the end of the aisle and stopped and bought some Cinnamon Roasted almonds...delicious! I didn't see them for nearly the whole rest of the day. I kept going back to the hot dog stand but they weren't there. So I wandered and saw some things I should have bought but didn't. I knew they wanted to be home around 1:00 so around noon I headed for the central place where there was a PA system. I paged them to let them know I was waiting there for them. We met up and talked about how we must have kept missing each other at the hot dog stand. Oh well. By this time I had bought a safari themed pillow (that's the theme of my living room), an african zebra mask to hang on the wall, and 6 wooden roses. We decided to go down a few more rows before heading to the car. The first row we went down, Vicki pointed out a bookshelf to me (after I had just been talking about how I needed another bookshelf). They wanted $15; I offered $10 and walked away with it. We stopped at McDonald's for lunch on the way home. I got home and unloaded my stuff and went to make cards (I have been addicted to the challenges online; I just haven't gotten around to making a routine to post them for the challenges.). In taking a break from crafting, I hung the mask on the wall, cleaned and shined up the bookshelf, and made a little reading corner in the living room.
So it was a great weekend with a good balance of fun and relaxation. This weekend I have my cousins' open house on Saturday evening. I hope to get a bunch of cards done this week!

Star Happy Birthday

This card is actually for two challenges. One is for Charisma Cardz Challenge and the other is for Dutch Dare Card Challenge. I thought this would be cute for a July birthday! Also could make cute July BBQ invitations (minus the birthday embossing of course)! The card is 4"x4". Perfect size for a little note to say "You're invited" or "Happy Birthday." Enjoy!

Papertake Weekly Challenge

The challenge this week over at Papertake Weekly was to use animals on a card. This is a card that I did a little while ago actually. It was my first card using the Magic Color Technique that Sue Nelson taught me. I am so blessed to have her in my life. She is so talented and artistic! Check out her website here http://www.heartprints.net/. She has a wonderful project gallery on there for ideas!
There is Stickles on the staples and the flower petals. Super simple. Nothing extravagant. Enjoy.

First Stamp-A-Lot Challenge

Stamp-A-Lot has presented us with their first challenge! It is to use circles on a project! Well pictured here is the 2 note cards I made for a coworker. She wanted something simple and modern for her kids and grandkids for their birthdays or for just sending a little note. So I made these simple cards. They each have a corresponding (pink or green) small block of paper in the inside for writing. Enjoy!

Charizma Cards Challenge #17

The challenge over at Charizma Cards this week was to make a Thank You card. Well here are two thank-you cards that I have made recently. One of my coworkers made invitations for a couple of baby showers she was helping out with. She had leftover paper and I suggested that she make matching thank you cards to give to the mom-to-be. She loved the idea and hired me to make them:) So the pink one is my entry for the challenge. The other one is just so everyone can see:) Enjoy!

Day 65 of 365 Cards

front

inside
The challenge on 365 Cards was to make a mother's day card. Good thing I sat down on Thursday of last week and got my mother's day cards done:) Just need to make a couple for the grandmothers! So here is mine. Very simple. It's hard to see in the pictures but the letters under the flower (mom) are double sided stickers with a teal colored flock on top. This is also my first time putting flowers on a card too. I know. I know. Welcome to the world of card-making, right:) Hope you enjoy.

Tea Bag Fold - Cuttlebug Spot Challenge

front

inside

This is my first official entry for the Cuttlebug Challenge for the week over at http://www.thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/. The challenge was to use a tea bag fold. I chose to make a cross. The text on the bottom is hard to read in the picture. It says "All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all." I hope to be able to do more challenges! My goal this year is to make at least one card per week. I'd really like to shoot for one card per day but with my schedule I know that that goal is a little steep for me right now. Hope you all enjoy!
